A Sweet Gesture

My daughter loves to write notes. Throughout the house, I find lots of notes that she wrote...and a lot of sticky notes from her as well too! She is such a sweet child. She always have the nicest things to say to everyone. A very loving child who loves everyone who enters her life. This week, she wanted to write a special note for her teacher. She loves all of her teachers! She often gives them hugs when she sees them. I told her that she can write her teacher a note and that I can make a special box for her to give the note to her teacher in. Here is the end result of the hand-made box:

Here is the box with the flap open. We had stuck her note inside. The flowers and leaves are hand-made as well. Her teacher loves the color purple and thus we incorporated it into the design.

My daughter wrote a little note for her teacher which we turned into a medallion and incorporated it into the back of the box. Here is what it looked like, being wrapped in lace.

The last picture is the sweetest note that any teacher can receive from an 8-yr old! Her teacher has been training dogs as guide dogs for the blind. She was allowed to bring the dogs into the classroom as part of their training. The kids LOVES the dogs! My daughter was very smitten with them! Everyday she practically ask us if she can have a dog. The dogs are so well-trained! Even with all the kids there, they are well-behaved. They get used to being around the children. Often in the classroom, the kids go about their studying while the dogs are in the classroom. I don't know which is harder: for the child to keep from petting and hugging the dog or the dog to keep from receiving attention from the 25 children in the classroom. Paige was so tempted to wanting a dog. On one of the days, she was telling me that Sherman (a dog who was in training to be a guide dog) came by and licked her hands and behind her ears and neck. I was puzzled because when I was visiting the classroom, the guide dogs often show control and do not go near the students until they are allowed to. So I asked her why Sherman came over to lick her? She giggled and later confessed that she had  brought bacon to school for snack. Oh, how sneaky of her!! :) I was laughing so hard, she knew that the smell of bacon would draw the dog to her.

Below in her drawing and note, you can see the 3 guide dogs that often visit the classroom. If there is a similar program out there, I highly recommended it! The dogs are so healthy for the children's mental. When I saw them interact with a dog in the classroom, I can not help let out an "awwwwww" in my heart.

We were lucky that both my children had this teacher, Mrs. A is such a wonderful teacher. The kids all love her and she is an awesome teacher. Hope your child has a teacher like her.

Thanks for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day,

Welcome and Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi there! Welcome to Paper Penguinz. You are probably wondering why we spelled penguins with  "z", it is because the Blogspot URL for the correct spelling was taken and unavailable. So sad...
My daughter LOVES penguins and so I decided to start this blog with her in mind. She loves creating cards with me. Many times we both sit down on the kitchen table and craft away. She is very good at trying out new medias and drawing.

My first card is from "Cute As A Button" and the artist is Francesca Lopez. I had posted it for Thanksgiving day but this blog was just created today, so it is a day late.

Her dress fringes and headband is full of glitter. The "Give Thanks with a grateful heart" sentiment was separated and die cut using a circle die. It is popped up with dimensions and pearls are used to adorned the scalloped edges. Clear gems were also used on each corner of the rectangle layers.
The paper roses were hand made and hand-colored to match the tones from the image. The leaves were also die cut and hand colored and embossed to give it a 3-D layer.

As you can see this card is heavily 3-dimensional. Lots of double-sided tapes were used.

Thank you for stopping by and I hope that you do often. Please feel free to visit my Facebook and Etsy shop, as I will be posting more handmade cards for sale.

Have a wonderful day,

Cammy
